Introducing Birling Parkway — The Green Connection at the Heart of Birling

A new chapter is taking shape in Birling, with construction of Birling Parkway set to commence next year. More than just a road, Birling Parkway has been designed as a vibrant, green connection that weaves together the life of the community, from Birling Village in the east to the historic Birling Homestead, established in 1812, in the west.

The name Birling Parkway captures the essence of what this important corridor represents: a place where people and nature move side by side. Prioritising pedestrians and cyclists, it will create a safe, scenic and active route through the heart of the community, linking key destinations including the Landmark Park and the Birling Sportsgrounds.

As the community grows, Birling Parkway will become one of the defining features of daily life, where families stroll in the afternoons, kids ride to sport, and neighbours cross paths beneath the shade of native trees. It is a space designed for movement, connection and discovery, honouring both the land’s history and its bright future.

To celebrate the beginning of this next stage, Birling Parkway-fronting lots will be launched in early December, alongside premium Landmark Park-fronting lots. Together, they represent the opportunity to live on Birling’s greenest address, surrounded by nature yet connected to everything.

Birling Parkway is not just a way through the community. It is the way Birling connects, past to present, village to homestead, and people to place.

Building the Story: Birling’s Entry Wall Takes Shape

In the coming weeks, work will begin on one of Birling’s most distinctive features: the entry wall. While it is a practical piece of infrastructure, it is also a design element rich with meaning—drawing inspiration from the stories, waterways, and culture of the Dharug people.

Where Function Meets Storytelling

The wall is more than a boundary; it is a celebration of place and connection. Inspired by Leanne Watson Redpath Mulgo’s artwork, the design reflects the movement of water across Dharug country—its curves and layered patterns echo the rhythms of freshwater streams that connect to the saltwater Ngurra. For Dharug Yiyura, water is a living being, sustaining the land and holding the memories of thousands of years. Every line and contour in the artwork is a reminder that in this culture, everything is connected: water is the veins of the land, guiding seasons, ceremonies, and stories across time.

Functionally, the wall provides acoustic and visual screening along The Northern Road. But beyond that, its soft curves and earthy tones are a sculptural extension of Birling’s character, blending with the planting palette that will soon frame it. In doing so, it embodies Birling’s commitment to Distinctive Design, one of the five pillars of the Place Vision, turning even a practical element into an expression of care, creativity, and connection.

A Community Taking Shape

As construction begins, the wall becomes the first physical gesture of the community to come—a visible sign of progress, identity, and the thoughtful design that will define Birling. It connects residents not just to their surroundings, but to the story of the land itself, echoing the ancient waterways and cultural heritage of Dharug country.

What Happens Next

Over the next few months, you will see activity along the Northern Road frontage as works are completed and landscaping is established. When finished, the entry wall will stand as a proud introduction to Birling: functional, beautiful, and carrying a story that is deeply rooted in the land on which it sits.

Stay tuned for updates as this important piece of the Birling vision comes to life.
